How it will work

A better question than “what walks are nearby?”

Start with the time you can actually spare. GoGoing is being designed to turn a starting point and drive-time limit into a practical shortlist.

01

Start where you are

Choose a starting point such as your home, a town, or the place your trip begins. GoGoing is designed around the real journey to a trailhead, not just straight-line distance.

Your precise search origin will only be used to calculate results when the search feature launches.

02

Set the drive time

Pick the maximum time you are comfortable spending in the car. This turns an open-ended list of tracks into options that are more realistic for the day you have.

Estimated times can change with traffic, road access and conditions.

03

Compare the shortlist

Review planned track information together: estimated drive time, walking time, difficulty and useful official references. Choose what suits your group and check current conditions before leaving.

GoGoing will support planning; it will not replace official safety advice.

Designed to assist, not decide

Before every walk

Check official track alerts, weather, daylight, access roads and whether the route matches everyone's ability and equipment.

Tell someone your plans where appropriate, carry suitable supplies, and turn back when conditions are not right. In an emergency, contact New Zealand emergency services directly.
